Swedish
Long flowing strokes and kneading of the muscles with light to medium pressure. Used primarily for full body sessions to promote circulation, relaxation, and relieving muscle tension, stress and chronic pain.
Deep Tissue
Improves body alignment and freedom of movement. Releases chronic patterns of tension to provide deep pain relief. Can loosen scar tissue.
Acupressure
An ancient healing art using the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities by releasing muscular tension to promote the circulation of blood and the body’s life force (sometimes known as chi) and aid in healing. Effective in helping to relieve headaches, eye strain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, tension due to stress, ulcer pain, menstrual cramps, lower backaches, constipation, and indigestion.
Trigger Point
Noninvasive therapeutic modality for relief and control of myofascial pain and dysfunction. Using cycles of specific pressure and release in tight areas often causing referral pain elsewhere. Aids in pain management and stress reduction.
Hot Stone
A specialty massage using smooth, heated stones. They are often basalt, a black volcanic rock that absorbs and retains heat well. It is a deeply soothing, relaxing form of massage. The heat helps release tight muscles and stiffness, improve circulation while decreasing stress and anxiety.
Myofascial Release
The three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions and facilitate the emergence of emotional patterns and belief systems that are no longer relevant or are impeding progress. First, an assessment is made by visually analyzing the human frame, followed by the palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.
Sports
More vigorous and deeper than Swedish massage. On athletes (dancers) minor injuries and lesions occur due to overexertion and/or repetitive movement. This technique can break down these minor injuries quickly and effectively. Sports Massage will help prepare the athlete for peak performance, drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, promote flexibility, and stimulate the lymphatic system.
Negative Pressure Cupping
Great for breaking up and draining stagnation and promoting the increase of blood and lymph flow. Cupping lifts and loosens connective tissue adhesions & restriction. (NOTE: Will leave Cup marks on the body for a few days.)
